How To Grow Your Internet Marketing | Make Money Blog

How To Grow Your Internet Marketing

A lot of businesses rely on Internet marketing since it is both efficient and affordable. There are a wide variety of choices available to marketing your business online, ones that can be done easily and with little knowledge. Continue on to the article below for some helpful information on how to use electronic communication to help your internet marketing efforts.

You can?t succeed at Internet marketing without a great website. Check to make sure your site is not outdated and everything works properly. When visitors can?t find their way around your site, they are not going to do business with you.

People are impressed by power and an important title. If you are a business owner, become the CEO or President. If you are not the owner of a business, make sure you have a great title! Always sign all emails and articles with a memorable title and your name.

Advertisements can almost always benefit from the addition of descriptions or adjectives that better indicate the speed of the product?s benefits. Talk about how fast your system is, how quickly an order can be placed, how soon your customer can receive the product and how quickly the product will improve their lives. This can speed up your downloads, help you have a more secure checkout and quicker order confirmations.

Put some banners on your header, make sure they do not look like a banner. Do not let them know that it is really a link. Banners sometimes can turn away customers, so make sure that they are well placed.

Web Design

Make sure you invest some time to learn at least the basics of web design. You will find excellence guidance and tutorials online, for all facets of web design and development, that is suitable for beginners or more experienced web designers. It is good to use thirty minutes a day to improve your webpage.

For returning customers, consider adding special deals on the order page. You could showcase items that are half off if customers spend over a certain dollar amount, for example. Clearing out old or overstocked inventory and marketing them at a steep discount or a freebie can help boost sales and get those product off your hands.

Attract traffic to your website by utilizing events and promotions. Perhaps you could run a two day sale on an e-book, with loss-leader price of a dollar or two. Then when people check your website for the promotional options, there is a tendency for them to linger and check out other options as well. They may leave with more than just the e-book if they find something else of interest on your site.

The more subscribers you have, the more revenue your website will generate. You can help to assess your site by beta testing two different versions with two different groups of subscribers. Then you choose the best one based on new subscriptions.

It is quite helpful to have a 500 error webpage that is user friendly. This will make your visitors know of any problems with your site. Your generic error page provides information to the reader that the connection timed out. There are better ways to let your users know that you are aware and working to fix the problem.

Every signature you have on the Internet should have a link of your website?s URL. If you post a lot in forums or on message boards, your link can appear in every single post, if you put it into your signature box. Every email you send out should have a link to your site within your signature. Signatures are a great way to spread the word about your site as well as increasing its page rank in search engines. Place a captivating line above the link, which will encourage them to click your link.

Direct marketing should not be overlooked as a complement to the marketing system for your Internet site. Contact your customers via email, phone or fax to let them know about any upcoming specials you may have. This will allow you to reach customers locally and globally.

Create a well-designed and interesting website. The success of any Internet marketing campaign depends on how well the website is created. Because your site is laid out well and of interest to visitors, they will be prompted to stay longer. You can design your site to keep interest high and encourage customers to browse all the features you offer.

Internet Marketing

Create a game for your customers, one that will keep them coming back to your website. Customers love to play free games online, and that can keep people coming back for more after they play once. Subtly incorporate your products into the game. For example, a great game idea for a hair-product site would be a hairstyling game that features options to buy your products.

Marketing via Internet does not need to be hard or confusing. Incorporate the tips presented in the above article to effectively use internet marketing. Most consumers like getting information through the Internet these days, which is why Internet marketing is ideal for expanding your business

Foster families desperately needed for PAWS kittens

PAWS Companion Animal Shelter in Lynnwood has their hands full right now finding temporary homes for more than 100 kittens.

These kittens are coming from all over the state, primarily from shelters that have run out of space and options.

?We have a large network of foster care volunteers, so typically we?re able to help close the gap between the smaller shelters and ourselves,? says Rebecca Oertel, PAWS Foster Care Coordinator.

But this year the numbers are getting large, even for PAWS.

?We need more foster care families,? says Oertel. ?As much as we?d love to all of them to be adopted today, what we really need are temporary homes.?

Usually, foster care volunteers need to go through two different orientation and training sessions, but because the need is so great, Oertel is combining the sessions in hopes of bringing in more volunteers.

?We have one three-hour training session, and we?ll have you ready to go.?

According to Oertel, fostering takes anywhere from two to six weeks. Foster families just need to provide a warm home, food and lots of love. PAWS will provide all medical care, and any medicines your foster may need during their stay.

Last year, the PAWS Foster Care Program saved the lives of nearly 1,300 cats and dogs. This year, that number is likely to be lot higher.

To help with this foster emergency, please call PAWS Foster Care Program at 425-787-2500 ext822.

Finding The Best Person To Mentor Your Online Marketing Business ...

Internet marketing business is one of those things where the overall influence it has primarily rests on other factors.

The easiest way to generate an income online is to look for a person who has a successful business and learn from them. Finding the right coach is not that easy, because most of them are actually high-priced. You?ll also come across a lot of so-called experts who are out to con you. In this article you will get advice on how to recognize a genuine expert in online marketing.

Firstly, you need to know if the expert really makes money with the strategy he or she is teaching. Lots of people generate profits by selling ideas of making money, rather than from a system. This implies their book is about a system that makes money, but the money they bring in is from selling the book, not by making use of their system. The first thing they?re going to tell you is to stay away from the Internet Marketing niche as it?s so competitive. They tell you to get into less competitive niche markets, although they have never gone there. The question needs to be asked: can you really trust the advice these folks give?

We do hope what you have learned to this point in relation to web marketing business tips, plus additionally the details regarding Internet business, is going to be helpful to you. Please keep reading a bit more to obtain additional information regarding this topic.

A few experts will play open cards with you while others won?t reveal the true source of their earnings. A few are afraid to tell you about a niche they are having success with, because people may abuse their openness by duplicating their site and saturating the niche. It?s impossible to tell if a person is truly having success, if they refuse to reveal the niche they are in. If they wouldn?t show you a live website that is making money, how can you believe that their method works? The best method is that where the teacher demonstrates to you what to do, one step at a time, so that goof ups are avoided. You know that they are truly pros when their system is easily followed and then provides good results.

Can you believe the claims some individuals make, when they quote fantastic figures and say you can do the same in six weeks, even if you are totally new to online marketing? Talk is easy, and it is as easy to show phony screenshots that claim to prove the massive amounts of money they say they are bringing in. The odds that you are dealing with a genuinely pro marketer are much greater when the claims being made are modest and credible. If you find yourself struggling to believe their claims, rather pass them by. You can?t make money without doing some work, so if someone says you can, don?t believe them. And you want nothing to do with them if what they have to teach isn?t ethical.

Successful systems abound, many of which are PPC and CPC, Adsense, CPA, article marketing .and the buying and selling of websites. These are not things that anyone can or wants to do, so if they do not appeal to you you should not buy into them. It is not just about making money, you also want to enjoy yourself while doing so. Experts know that their methods work and they have no need to force people into paying for anything substandard.

Border Patrol K9 team volunteers at Calexico Animal Shelter

CALEXICO ? On a regular day, Border Patrol K9 handler Tony Camarena employs his assigned dog to secure the border through heat and cold.

On Saturday, Camarena decided to use his dog-handling expertise at the Calexico Animal Shelter for another altruistic mission: caring for rescued dogs.

?I love animals ? except snakes,? Camarena said jokingly just after cleaning a dog kennel.

This is the first time that Camarena and other Border Patrol K9 handlers volunteered at the shelter, he said, and there?s a benefit in having the handlers involved in the effort, he suggests.

?I?m not afraid to approach a dog,? said Camarena.

But dogs at the Calexico Animal Shelter aren?t difficult to approach.

In fact, they all seemed eager to interact with handlers like Sonny Villareal, who walked, played with and bathed dogs.

?The vast majority of the dogs are sociable,? Villareal said as he prepared to bath one of the many dogs that are kept in the shelter.?

The goal of volunteering at the shelter is to give back to the community as an outreach effort, he said, and pointed out that Diana Daniels ? another Border Patrol agent ? was the one who invited him to volunteer.

Villareal then invited the K9 handlers and that?s how this volunteering effort came to be, he said.

?Dog on the loose,? said someone shortly after and then a dog the size of a Chihuahua was seen running through the kennels.

The dog was named Flash by some of the agents who were able to catch it soon after.

It was a clearly a joyful moment for the volunteers present.

Border Patrol K9 Coordinator Jose Montes, who ultimately got a hold of Flash, bathed it with the help of Border Patrol Deputy Chief Roy Villareal.

?We are all animal lovers,? said Roy Villareal. Border Patrol interacts with dogs so often that it ?is part of who we are and what we do.?.?

And indeed they have plenty of dogs.

The local Border Patrol has about 47 dogs, said Montes, who since becoming a supervisor had to relinquish having an assigned dog.

And he misses having an assigned dog, he said, although he noted that he has his own retired dog at home.

This is because agents are allowed to keep a retired dog, which is usually retired after five to eight years of service, said Camarena, who added that it?s not uncommon for agents to keep their assigned dog.

?All these guys really get attached with the dogs,? he said.?

In the case of Montes, his dog is growing old and soon he?ll have to look for another one.

Now that he?s seen the dogs at the Calexico Animal Shelter, Montes said there?s no way he?ll get a dog from a shop but instead, he?s looking forward to get a rescued dog.

For more information about the Calexico Animal Shelter and about adopting a dog contact the Calexico Animal Control office at 760-768-1861.

Giants stifle Sanchez, Tebow in 26-3 win vs. Jets

(AP) ? The New York Giants were all over Mark Sanchez. They got to Tim Tebow, too.

With the Jets' offense struggling and the Giants' defense in midseason form, this turned out to be a preseason mismatch.

Rookie Jayron Hosley returned an interception of Sanchez 77 yards for a touchdown, and the defending Super Bowl champions got seven sacks while stifling the Jets in a 26-3 victory over their hometown rivals Saturday night.

"We played good," Giants defensive end Justin Tuck said. "Still a preseason game, still got a lot of things to learn from, but I think we played fast. We played decisive."

Lawrence Tynes kicked four field goals, and former Rutgers fullback Joe Martinek had a 14-yard touchdown catch from Ryan Perrilloux for the Giants (1-1), who never trailed. Eli Manning and the rest of the offensive starters for the Giants (No. 3 in the AP Pro32) were mostly quiet, too, but they didn't need much to win on this night.

"We have a lot more to fix than the Giants do, clearly," Jets coach Rex Ryan said.

Both teams struggled on third downs, with the Giants going 2 for 13 and the Jets 1 for 13. But the Jets (0-2) had some costly penalties and just couldn't give their quarterbacks much time to do anything. Embattled right tackle Wayne Hunter got manhandled for four sacks ? including two by Jason Pierre-Paul ? although one was negated by a penalty.

"As a defensive line, we were able to get some pressure," Tuck said. "And that's really what we need to do if we want to be a good defense. Defensively, as a whole, we played pretty well. We were able rush the quarterback. ... It's a step in the right direction, a plus for us."

Sanchez finished 9 of 11 for 59 yards and the costly interception, but was under pressure on nearly every play.

"Mark threw the ball well tonight," Ryan said, "but it's hard to throw when you're flat on your back."

Sanchez was also without injured wide receivers Santonio Holmes, Jeremy Kerley and Chaz Schilens, and it showed. Through two preseason games, the Jets have failed to score a touchdown.

"We struggled," Sanchez said. "We were good in spurts, but I know we can play better than that up front. I know we can block those four-man rush looks. I've seen our guys do it. And, I know we have the right personnel."

Tebow, with his elusiveness and knack for comebacks, couldn't even help the Jets (No. 14) in his home debut. He led them to their only points of the night on a 30-yard field goal by Josh Brown, but was sacked four times and finished 5 of 14 for 69 yards.

Hosley, a third-round pick out of Virginia Tech, had the biggest play when he gave the Giants a 13-0 lead on his long interception return with 2:03 left in the opening half. With the Jets finally moving the ball, Sanchez tried to get a short pass to Patrick Turner, but Hosley stepped in front of the toss that was slightly behind the receiver and ran down the sideline untouched.

"When I threw the ball, I thought it was really accurate," Sanchez said. "You miss on one play and that's what can happen."

What made the play even more remarkable was the fact that Hosley appeared to injure his right foot on the return. He was wearing a walking boot after the game. He wasn't sure of the extent of the injury, and expected to have more tests Sunday.

Ryan joked that his team's offense would be "vanilla with some sprinkles" ? and he wasn't kidding. The Jets started slowly and never really got going as the Giants' front seven played like the group that helped lead them to the Super Bowl title last season. The Jets managed just 148 net yards, including 65 on the ground.

"We were able to stop the run," Tuck said, "and when that happens, it's kind of like a feeding frenzy with our D-ends."

Tebow came in to a mixed reaction ? cheers from Jets fans and boos from the loads of Giants fans in attendance ? and appeared to energize the team. But he had a shot at his first touchdown on second-and-20 from the 29 and short-hopped a pass to a wide-open Stephen Hill in the end zone.

"I wanted to throw it to the pylon and low," Tebow said, "but I didn't want to throw it that low."

The Jets settled for Brown's field goal that bounced off the right upright and over the crossbar to cut the deficit to 16-3 with 3:26 left in the third quarter.

It was the teams' first meeting since Christmas Eve, when Victor Cruz's 99-yard catch helped send the Giants on their Super Bowl run and the Jets into a disappointing offseason without a playoff appearance.

Tynes gave the Giants a 3-0 lead with a 35-yard field goal on a 12-play drive that was kept alive by a personal foul penalty on the Jets' Joe McKnight ? a sign of things to come for the home team. The running back rolled into punter Steve Weatherford and turned a fourth-and-5 from the Jets 25 to a first-and-10 from the 40.

McKnight got an earful from Jets special teams coordinator Mike Westhoff on the sideline after the play.

Manning finished 7 of 14 for 62 yards, and was intercepted by LaRon Landry.

"I thought we had a couple good drives and moved the ball," Manning said. "We converted some third downs, had some opportunities, but didn't get in the end zone. Whenever you play the Jets, you're always going against a great defense."

NOTES: Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw left the game after a cyst popped on his right hand, but X-rays were negative and he said he would be fine. LB Mark Herzlich suffered a hip pointer, and DE Adrian Tracy tweaked a hamstring on the Jets' opening series of the half, and didn't return. ... Giants DE Adewale Ojomo, an undrafted free agent, had two sacks. ... Jets P T.J. Conley had punts of 19 and 23 yards in the fourth quarter. ... It was the Giants' largest margin of victory over the Jets ? preseason or regular season.

Fitness in Fidgeting

This is a guest post by Robyn Sorenson (www.bulking-cutting.com)

?Stop fidgeting!? Most everyone has likely heard this phrase at least once in their life. Children, in general, are especially fidgety due to the build up of energy they have (some way more than others!). So WHY is fidgeting so bad and WHO gave this useful calorie burner such a terrible stigma? Fortunately, times have changed and now it has been discovered that fidgeting is actually GOOD for you and you can burn an average of 350 calories a day just from these habits! So, twiddle those thumbs and kick that leg, here are a few of the top fidgets to keep calories burning when you can't hit the gym.

Kicking your leg

One of the most popular of fidgets, swinging or kicking your leg not only burns mega calories, but also works leg muscles, keeps legs toned and increases and encourages blood flow in your legs. Many people don't take enough breaks to get up and walk around after sitting in front of their computer all day, so this ?bad habit? is a really good one to have!

Tapping your fingers or pen

Some people find this extremely annoying, others can't help it! Tapping your fingers or pen is a concentration method that helps people to think clearly. Working muscles in your hand, wrist and arm, tapping is a great and easy way to keep the body moving while burning off steam.

Pacing

Coming in at the top of the list is pacing. Walking up and down hallways, around the office or, if you can swing it, get outside and walk the sidewalks near your office. Yes, it is a nervous, but healthy, habit. Pacing is our brains way of working out problems by releasing endorphins that the body releases when exercising. So, unknowingly, you are working out your body AND brain.

Biting your nails and lip
The key to this fidget is to always make sure your hands are clean! Especially during cold and flu season. A nasty habit to some, a good calorie burner to others. Like tapping, you are working muscles in your arm, wrist, hand AND neck.

Chewing Gum
Last, but not least, chewing gum burns major calories throughout the day. Avid gum chewers can burn hundreds of unwanted calories each day just by popping, blowing bubbles and cracking this gooey goodness. Most people chew gum after they eat, which not only ensures good breath, but speeds up digestion as well.

Robyn Sorenson is a body builder, mother of two, avid outdoors woman and resident manager of a new product for athletes, a site where serious body builders can find everything they need to bulk up safely.

Windows 8 RT tablets to sell for $300 less then Intel-based counterparts, says Lenovo exec

Microsoft and its OEM partners haven't been particularly forthcoming on how much the first round of Windows 8 tablets are going to cost, but one Lenovo executive just gave us a hint. In a recent interview with Bloomberg, David Schmoock, Senior VP of Lenovo's North American division, said that full-on Windows 8 tablets would ring up between $600 and $700, noting that ARM-based Windows RT slates would sell for $200 to $300 less. "RT will play in consumer and retail at very aggressive price points," he said. This echoes previous reports that suggested Microsoft would introduce the Surface with a competitive $200 price tag. The Lenovo VP didn't reveal any specific prices, of course, but his estimates would put the ThinkPad Tablet 2 somewhere between $300 and $500. Schmoock also commented on Ultrabook sales, stating that he didn't think Intel would meet its lofty saturation goals: 40 percent of the market by the end of 2012. "They'll be a lot bigger than they are now," he admitted, "but I don't know if it will get all the way up to 40 percent."

Swarming Up A Storm: Why Animals School And Flock

A school of Blue Tang fish swimming together off the Caribbean island of Bonaire. It has long been assumed that the schooling behavior of fish evolved in part to protect animals from being attacked by predators. David J. Phillip/AP

A school of Blue Tang fish swimming together off the Caribbean island of Bonaire. It has long been assumed that the schooling behavior of fish evolved in part to protect animals from being attacked by predators.

By tricking live fish into attacking computer-generated "prey," scientists have learned that animals like birds and fish may indeed have evolved to swarm together to protect themselves from the threat of predators.

"Effectively, what we're doing here is we're getting predatory fish to play a video game," says Iain Couzin, who studies collective animal behavior at Princeton University. "And through playing that game, through seeing which virtual prey items they attack, we can get a very deep understanding of as to how behavioral interactions among prey affect their survival."

It has long been assumed that the schooling behavior of fish and the flocking behavior of birds evolved in part because it helps protect individuals from being attacked by predators, says Couzin. "But in actual fact there is surprisingly little direct evidence."

That's because it's been hard to come up with experiments that could test how different kinds of group behavior affect predation risk. "It is very hard to manipulate the behavior of, say, a bird flock and then see what effect it has on a falcon. That's virtually impossible," says Christos Ioannou at the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom.

Together with colleague Vishwesha Guttal, they decided to see if they could create a virtual population of pretend fish that would look convincingly real to a predator.

The predator they selected was the bluegill sunfish. They went to a local lake with nets, collected a bunch of them, and took the fish back to the lab.

Starlings fly over the Piazza Venezia as night falls in Rome.

"The nice thing about bluegill sunfish is they're generalist predators. They will tend to hunt pretty much anything that's alive and in the environment that's smaller than them," says Couzin. "And so we don't need to train them to attack our virtual prey."

The prey were little dots of light projected onto a transparent film on the inside of the tank. On the computer screen, the dots look red, but the projected images look white or slightly pink. "To the fish they look very much like little zooplankton, little creatures that live in the water body that move around, that we know group together in the natural environment," says Couzin.

The predatory fish would hover near a dot, and then strike ? only to get a mouthful of nothing.

The computer-generated prey items were each programmed to follow a different set of rules for behavior. For example, some were strongly attracted to others and wanted to be close to them. Others preferred to go off on their own. And others would match their direction of travel with whoever was nearby.

The researchers kept track of which individuals got attacked, and programmed the system so that those individuals' behaviors were less likely to be transmitted to the next generation of prey. "And so we could actually allow our virtual population to evolve the strategies that best avoid being attacked by real predators," says Couzin.

What they learned is that in response to the attacks, the virtual prey spontaneously formed groups that not only aggregate but move together.

"I think it's the first evidence that this coordinated behavior we see in bird flocks and fish schools, where individuals are really highly coordinated in the direction they're heading, has an anti-predatory effect," says Ioannou. "To our knowledge that's the first time it's been done in a really clear, experimental way."

The results are published in the journal Science.

Couzin says that his lab is continuing to develop the technology to do more sophisticated tests. They're adding a new projection system that allows the virtual prey to appear to move in three dimensions, and an eye-tracking technology for the fish that would give the virtual prey some real-time information about the predator's intentions.

"These prey can now respond to the predator, they can now avoid the predator," says Couzin, "and so we've really taken this technology much, much further, allowing us to continue exploring this integration of the real and the virtual worlds."

Clown had iPad stolen from Steve Jobs' home

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) ? A professional clown who used an iPad pilfered from the home of the late Steve Jobs to play pop songs at a street fair while he made balloon animals said Friday he had no idea his friend had snatched the tablet.

Kenneth Kahn, who wears a curly rainbow wig when he performs at children's birthday parties as Kenny the Clown, said his friend gave him the iPad in exchange for money he owed Kahn for a vacation the pair planned to take to Hawaii.

"He owed me $300 for the plane tickets, so he said he had an Apple computer that he wasn't using anymore. I said fine, not having any clue what the hell was going on," Kahn told The Associated Press.

The professional entertainer, who has also made unsuccessful bids to become mayor of Alameda and San Francisco, said he never examined the contents of the device.

Instead, he downloaded Dave Brubeck's "Take Five," Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal," and other songs for his clown routine, which includes magic shows and juggling torches on a unicycle.

Kahn, 47, said he played music on the iPad for a few days at the art and wine fair before police came for it. The device has been returned to the family of Jobs, who died last Oct. 5.

"The thing that is embarrassing to me is I'm a huge fan of Steve Jobs," Kahn said. "It's just bizarre."

Kariem McFarlin, 35, of Alameda was arrested on suspicion of breaking into the Palo Alto residence of the Apple co-founder. Kahn said he had no idea where the iPad came from until McFarlin was taken into custody on Aug. 2.

Apple investigators identified McFarlin after he used the stolen device to connect to his iTunes account on the Internet, police said. He acknowledged to police that he broke into Jobs' residence, as well as other homes, and wrote an apology letter to Jobs' widow, according to a police report.

McFarlin targeted the unoccupied Palo Alto home on July 17 because it was under renovation, authorities said. When construction crews left, he hopped a fence and found a spare key, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

The newspaper said the suspect apparently didn't realize he was in Jobs' house until he saw a letter addressed to the Silicon Valley icon.

During the 15-hour overnight heist, Jobs' wallet and driver's license were taken as well as iPhones, iPads, iPods, Mac computers, champagne and $60,000 worth of Tiffany & Co. jewelry, police said.

Kahn said he met McFarlin when he coached him on a high school basketball team in Alameda more than a decade ago.

"Kariem and I used to talk about ethics all the time, so I thought we were on the same page," Kahn said. "I guess he just got desperate, and made a terrible decision."

McFarlin remained jailed on $500,000 bail and was expected to appear in court Monday. If convicted, he could face almost eight years in prison. Kahn said he has not been questioned in the case. Law enforcement officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment Friday.

The Santa Clara County public defender's office, which is officially representing McFarlin, did not immediately provide comment Friday. McFarlin has recently hired a private attorney who wants to remain anonymous until Monday's hearing.

Risks of Buying Real Estate in Emerging Markets Out of State

ShareThis

by Bill Bronchick?
??????
Real estate investors, hungry for break-even or positive cash flow rental properties, purchased income property out of state the mid 2000?s. California investors bought houses in Florida, Texas, and Oklahoma. Florida investors purchased houses in Louisiana. Texas investors purchased in Las Vegas. Some these investors made millions of dollars because of the appreciation in those hot markets.

On the other hand, many beginning investors lost their hard-earned investment capital or only made a meager profit because they failed to do their homework on the out of state area?s real estate market and customs. If you?re thinking about buying investment properties in a different state than you?re accustomed to, beware of these five surprises.

Pitfalls of Investing in ?Emerging Markets Out of State

Surprise #1 - ?This house will only rent for $750 per month, not $1200!?
This was one of the top mistakes made by investors. Large real estate investing groups, selling out of state properties to local investors, inflated the rental income. Because so many houses were purchased in a limited area by investors, a rental glut lowered expected income. This created hardships for investors who suddenly had to pay out hundreds of dollars a month instead of reaping promised profits.

Surprise #2 ? ?You can?t sell this house, now!?
Some investors who couldn?t rent the out of state property decided to sell because the values did rise significantly while the house was built or during the purchase time. However, many investors were stunned when they were told they couldn?t sell the property within the first year after purchase. Restrictions prohibiting real estate investors from quick-turning their properties is a trend that is growing increasingly popular with some developers.

Surprise #3 ? ?You Can?t Lease This Property!?
New home developers and many Homeowners? Associations (HOA)s prohibit property owners from leasing their properties. Some of these restrictions got passed, without the investor being notified, during the property purchase phase. You must read the fine print to see if any clauses prevent the rental of the property. Home builders, to keep the value of the neighborhood up, added restrictions requiring the purchaser to occupy the home as a primary or secondary residence.

Surprise #4 ? ?These (extra) costs are the norm in this state!?
Besides extra closing costs like pricey surveys, common in Florida but rare in California, other surprise costs included higher transfer fees and taxes. Property taxes in Florida cost much more for investors in Florida than in California. On the other side of the country, out of state investors were shocked by California?s state tax held in escrow: 3.8% of the property?s SALE?S price, no matter the actual profit made. In other words, an investor who made a quick profit of $20,000 on a fast flip could have more than the profit held until the next year?s income tax filing.

Surprise #5 ? ?Houses don?t appreciate 30% per year here!?
Perhaps you?ve attended or been invited to a high-power investment seminar that promotes out of state real estate investing. Some of these ?investor clubs? really are promoters who receive kick-backs in real estate commissions, property management fees, mortgage loan fees, and even fire insurance premiums. They tell stories of huge appreciation gains, which are probably true. However, not all areas enjoy significant appreciation-year after year.

Emerging Markets Investing Due Diligence
Don?t make the costly mistake of not fully researching the complete market customs and restrictions in the area where you?re thinking about investing. If you can?t afford to go to check out the area in person, choose another area that you can visit.

Yosemite river tragedy: 1 boy dead, 1 missing

Gosia Wozniacka / AP

A hiker takes a photo from the top of Vernal Fall in Yosemite in July 2011.

By Louis Casiano, NBC News

A 10-year-old boy is dead and a 6-year-old is missing after they were swept away in the Merced River in Yosemite National Park on Wednesday, a park spokesman said.?

The boys were part of a family group from Southern California that hiked about a mile on the Mist Trail to Vernal Fall before stopping at a footbridge around 3 p.m. to hop in the Merced River.?

But the boys were swept away in the strong current. The 10-year-old was pulled out 150 yards downstream and another park visiter administered CPR.

The boy was pronounced dead after further resuscitation?efforts by park rangers were?unsuccessful.?

A search for the 6-year-old was under way between the footbridge and the trailhead, a distance of about eight-tenths of a mile, according to park spokesman Scott Gediman.

Gediman told NBC News about 20 national park rangers were looking Thursday afternoon.

The part of the river the boys were in has lots of boulders, some the size of a house, Yosemite spokesperson Kari Cobb told NBC News.?

"That portion of the river is a very rough portion," she said. "It's not uncommon for people to go down to that part of the river."?

She told Reuters that the Merced was running "extremely low" but that the current still was swift.

Gediman said he was not sure if the boys were brothers but that they were with a group of extended family and friends.?

The boys' names have not been released.?

The Mist Trail is one of the most popular hiking trails in Yosemite National Park, which is in the Sierra Nevada east of San Francisco and encompasses 1,200 square miles.?

Last July, three visitors to the park were swept over the falls to their deaths. One body was recovered several weeks after the accident, and the others were found in November and December.?

The Basics Of Stress Tests ? Important Tips And Facts : : Critical ...

It is important to know about stress tests, which are given to millions of Americans every year in the US. You should always talk to your doctor and ask all the questions you can think of. Whatever test you are given, it usually has to do with the problem that they suspect you of having. So when a doctor gives you this test, it is to help them make the right decision in regard to the condition you may have.

Any time your doctor suspects possible heart-related trouble, he or she will want to confirm it. It really depends on the situation and the method that they choose to treat you with. A catheter is usually inserted into the person to view the artery if a person is having a heart attack. Performing exercises in what is called a cardiac stress test is often used by doctors. A not so serious symptom, angina, is experienced by many people. More than likely, if your doctor suspects anything is going on, imagery of your heart, arteries and veins will be taken. The potential of having a heart condition will be confirmed with a stress test that your doctor will order. The results will tell you everything.Did you ever think about or believe you?d discover as much information on home page as you have? Sure, we know this really is just one post, but take it from us when we tell you there is a lot more to know. As you go via this, some issues will standout more than others, but don?t throw the infant out using the bathwater, either. That can occasionally be a mistake because on closer observation you?ll frequently change your thoughts. It is hardly ever a great idea to preserve a closed thoughts about something, and that has served us very nicely. But there is much more to come, today, and also you will see that it?ll come with each other quite nicely. That is never a poor thing even though it can appear like a great deal to take in. A stress test can only work if your heart is under some type of stress or strain to get the readings. EKGs can only work with a stressed heart. If you are relaxed, then there will not be any usable readings. Anytime you hear the phrase "loading it down" associated with the heart, causing it to work harder than ever. Putting your heart under a load can be done by walking fast or running for not too long at all. Abnormalities can be revealed when the heart is loaded down. Although situations may arise, it?s not always going to show up the same way. Feeling fine, and having no symptoms, will not help in discovering if you have problems with your heart.

The stress test for your heart implies a number of things. For example, this is the kind of test that a person can perform, so that says something about how serious the condition is. Your physician would probably not order a stress test for you if there was the possibility that a heart attack would actually occur. People that are high risk will probably be given another type of test that is less likely to cause any problems. Typically, catheters are inserted into the leg or groin area into a major artery instead. They get a video feed of what is actually going on inside the artery feeding the catheter up to the heart. Some risks are involved, though most people are not aware of what they are. Each of the particular issues and sub-topical paragraphs can be greatly expanded when you are talking about read this post here. So if it suits your fancy, or need, then you are at your leisure to delve into it and know all about it.

1 glaring side-benefit to pursuing this study is all of the mundane small points which will truly provide the glue that binds it all with each other.

What we discover useful is augmenting our source understanding with related searches which are based on sub-topical interests. Valuable understanding is there for you personally if only you have the motivation to look for it.

In the end, although, this really is clearly your option to pursue or not.

The bright side of needing a stress test means your doctor feels you are in good enough condition to take one. If this is what is happening, then you should feel positive in some way. Once you get the results of your test, then you can work with your doctor to improve your health.

Italian Food : A Guide to Eating {and drinking} in Italy | My Melange

1 restaurant sign in Ostuni Puglia

a pizzeria sign in Italy

You may remember I posted Italian language terms for food shopping in Italy, which should be helpful for your travels. ?But at some point during your trip, you?re obviously going to venture out to eat. Truth be told, if you?re anything like me, it?s one of the reasons you GO to Italy in the first place.

But trying to decipher terms used for dining establishments in Italy can be a bit confusing, so you can use this guide to help you. ?Maybe, just maybe it will prevent you from attempting to make a reservation at a laundr0mat or seeking out a car repair joint to order a pizza.

Osteria ? An osteria is usually a place serving wine and simple food. There is usually a short menu featuring local specialties and sometimes, shared tables. Depending on the osteria you may see a more extensive menu, or they may serve only wine, allowing customers to bring their own food.

Enoteca ?? A genuine enoteca is a special type of local or regional wine shop. Customers can taste the wines for a small fee and/or purchase bottles. Some could be considered a sort of ?wine library,? since they do not sell large quantities of wine, but rather allow travelers to taste and learn more about local wines.

 • Tip: A local enoteca is the perfect spot to sample Italian wines with a sommelier, like these in Florence and Venice.

Fiaschetteria ??A term more commonly used in Tuscany (specifically in Florence where the term originated), a Fiaschetteria is a wine shop. Fiaschetteria stems from?fiasche, the word for the straw bottomed flasks that once transported Tuscan wines from the vineyard. These days, they are small places to get sandwiches, a platter of meats and cheeses, and perhaps even a simple dish to go along with their main fare?wine.

Ristorante ??These are restaurants in the truest sense of the word. They are full service, elegant dining establishments with printed menus, hosts/hostesses, ?fully trained kitchen staff, and even a sommelier. To eat in a ristorante you?ll usually need a reservation, elegant attire and quite possibly a basic knowledge of formal dinnerware. For this style of dining, you?ll likely pay a premium and be expected to order a full three-course meal.

Trattoria ? A trattoria offers casual dining?less formal than a ristorante, but with a larger menu than an osteria (though that menu usually isn?t printed?it may be recited or handwritten on a chalkboard). The food is usually less fancy (but still delicious) and you?ll get larger portions. The prices tend to be very reasonable and sometimes they offer takeout.

Tavola Calda ? A tavola calda is perhaps the most informal eatery of the ones listed. Literally translated to ?hot table?, they are typically self-serve, allowing you to choose from a selection of prepared hot dishes. Kind of like cafeteria or buffet, it offers a quick, inexpensive meal.

Paninoteca ? These are basically sandwich shops featuring a variety of hot and cold sandwiches, (panini) as well as (sometimes) coffee. You may also come across a Spuntinoteca, which is a place to grab a light snack.

Pizzeria ? The first Italian pizzeria, is said to have originated in Naples, and served only one food?pizza. Though many no longer limit their menu to pizza alone, they still specialize in it. A pizzaiolo bakes the pizza in a wood-fired oven to be eaten on the premises or taken out. They usually have informal atmospheres and low prices. Other popular pizzeria fare include fried items like zucchini blossoms and rice balls. ?Styles of pizza, thickness of crust and toppings will vary by region.

gelato shop sign

from the sign you can tell gelato is served inside

Gelateria ? A shop that sells gelato?Italy?s version of ice cream. Gelato has less butter fat than American ice cream, but more air, so it?s thick and creamy. Don?t let the ?less fat? comment fool you into thinking it?s any less delicious?gelato is just as decadent as the ice cream you?re used to (if not more so) and it?s known for a wide variety of rich, fresh flavors. Avoid anything with artificial colorings -?pistachio shouldn?t resemble mint chocolate chip, aim for a creamy nut milk color.

Bar/Caff? ? At this type of establishment patrons purchase coffee drinks (espresso, cappuccino, macchiato) wine, and liqueur. Kind of a combination of bar and coffee shop wrapped up in one. ?These bars, however, are not places to consume large quantities of alcohol. They are beautifully decorated and act as centers of social life, usually visited after morning pastries, before or after lunch, to swig back a quick shot of espresso, or for an early evening cocktail. Be aware that many bars have separate pricing depending on where you take your order?sitting at a table (slightly more expensive) or standing at the bar (less).

Birreria ? Translating to brasserie or brewery, a birreria is sort of like an alehouse or tavern. These informal joints usually offer food, but they?re known for a wide selection of alcoholic beverages.

Autogrill ? The term autogrill is used throughout Italy as a generic word for rest stop. It?s also a brand, referring to the Italian based chain of rest stops by the same name. But don?t let the term lead you to think of a greasy spoon in the States. Instead you will find very high quality coffee drinks and panino. ?If you see one on the highway, veer off for a visit -?you won?t be sorry!

Are you planning a visit to Italy? ?Click here to see how I can help.

New test may speed detection of heart attacks - Harvard Health ...

A heart attack (more formally known as myocardial infarction) isn?t always an instantly recognizable event. Severe chest pain often has nothing to do with the heart or blood vessels. Some heart attacks are so small they pass almost unnoticed, written off as indigestion or the flu. Others are major catastrophes, causing death or long-lasting disability.

A new blood test may help speed the diagnosis. This is important, because the sooner a heart attack is diagnosed, the sooner treatment can begin. The sooner treatment begins, the more heart muscle can be saved.

Fifty years ago, doctors had to rely on a person?s symptoms and sometimes hard-to-interpret changes on an electrocardiogram to determine if a heart attack was under way. Today, blood tests are available that can detect the chemical signature of dying heart cells. The blood test preferred today is called troponin. Troponin is a protein complex found almost exclusively in heart and skeletal muscle cells. Its sudden release into the bloodstream signals damage to the heart muscle. Combining troponin results with characteristic changes on the electrocardiogram and symptoms is currently the gold standard for identifying myocardial infarction.

Within the first few hours of a heart attack, though, both the troponin level and the electrocardiogram can be normal. That means people with results in the gray zone are observed and monitored for 12 to 16 hours with more troponin tests and electrocardiograms.

The new high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T test can detect smaller amounts of troponin in the bloodstream. This could let doctors identify small heart attacks that would otherwise go undiagnosed, or identify heart attacks earlier?and begin treatment earlier. Results of a study of the test, published online this week in the Archives of Internal Medicine, showed that it helped emergency room doctors rule out heart attack in just a couple hours.

Skip the home diagnosis

While it is important for doctors to quickly tell the difference between a heart attack and something else, like pancreatitis or a panic attack, it?s even more important for people with chest pain to get to the hospital as soon as possible, and not try to make a diagnosis themselves. Far too many people delay calling 911 or going to the hospital, and by the time they do a substantial section of heart muscle has died.

When it comes to chest pain, it?s better to be safe than sorry. (For more information on chest pain and heart attacks, I recommend that you read this article from the Harvard Heart Letter.) Keep in mind that chest pain is only one of the possible signs of an impending heart attack. Call 911 or your local emergency number right away if you have:

 • Uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness, burning, tightness or pain in the center of the chest
 • Pain, numbness, pinching, prickling or other uncomfortable sensations in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach
 • Shortness of breath
 • Sudden nausea or vomiting
 • Lightheadedness or dizziness
 • Unusual fatigue, especially if accompanied with a great deal of sweating
 • Sudden heaviness, weakness or aching in one or both arms

Only a handful of music software companies can claim a quarter-century of longevity and success, and EASTWEST has been an industry leader from the beginning.

Rogers has signed several industry heavyweights to develop a, no expense spared, ?Masters Series? of Virtual Instruments. Producers in this high-profile group are MARK ?SPIKE? STENT (Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Madonna, Muse, etc.); JOE CHICCARELLI (Raconteurs, Killers, White Stripes, etc.); STEVEN WILSON (lead guitarist and singer of the progressive rock band Porcupine Tree); drummers MATT CHAMBERLAIN (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, Peter Gabriel, etc.); and STEVE SIDELNYK (Madonna, Seal, Massive Attack), and others TBA.

?I am honored to work with such an amazing and talented group of people,? said Rogers. ?Mark ?Spike? Stent, a British producer/engineer brings his experience of working with international superstars such as Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Madonna, U2, Beyonc?, Muse, Bj?rk, Depeche Mode, Green Day, and many more, to the table.
